- Abstract
The soft foundation drainage and consolidation condition of the earth dam in ChushandianReservoir is poor, with low strength and poor engineering geological conditions. The length to be treated accounts for 72% of the total length of the earth dam section, in addition to the wide range and a large area of dam foundation treatment, which is relatively rare in China. If the pore water pressure of soft foundation can't dissipate in time, the continuous settlement and uneven settlement will occur during the operation period of the dam, which will cause cracks and local instability of the dam. In order to eliminate the hidden danger and ensure the safety of the dam, the method of sand compaction pile was used to deal with the dam foundation and the comprehensive analysis was carried out through material test, numerical simulation and field test. The arrangement of sand compaction pile, the safety of dam body and the rationality of construction schedule were studied. According to the analysis of dam settlement data, after the treatment of sand compaction pile, the consolidation of soft foundation dam section is basically completed during the dam filling construction period, which is consistent with the numerical simulation results. The settlement of each monitoring section is between 7.25 cm and 12.92 cm without uneven settlement.
