- Abstract
Anonymity, distance, separation. Nothing could be further from the idea of community. Already with our experience at Ferrara’s Festival Città e Territorio, in 2009, we were exploring conditions apparently at the antipodes of the idea of community. As we wrote in those days, we saw in anonymity «being together in an absolute sense, the selfless good, not only towards the individual, but towards the whole community». Ten years later, during the Covid-19 emergency in 2020, “social distancing” proved to be a new way of being together essential for the very preservation of the human community. Distance and separation, which are the figure of public life during the pandemic caused by Covid-19, are explored in this contribution in their architectural and poetic matrix. We do this through a restaurant and a performance: Ichiran Ramen and Sun & Sea (Marina). These become two devices that allow a form of community without commonality.
