- Abstract
The article discusses efforts to provide a framework for bank to price products effectively. Two situations are considered, the large banks competing globally and banks competing within the U.S. The Base II capital framework is required for the largest banks in the U.S. Another option is the SR 99-18. The incorporation of risk-based processes enables banks to identify the risks that they are willing to accept and to price for those risks in order to provide adequate returns on economic capital.
