- Abstract
Background. Many of an immunological molecules are involved in the process of the regulation of appetite. Overexpression of some of them may lead to induction and course of anorexia nervosa. Aim of the study. 1. Evaluation of serum concentrations MIC1 in group with anorexia nervosa (AN), girls with simple obesity (OB) and healthy girls (ZD). 2. Evaluation of the relationship between that proteins and duration of the illness, antropometric and metabolic parameter in whole group. 3. Evaluation of the relationship between MIC1 and specific lipid, carbohydrate, hormonal markers in serum samples of whole examinated group. Materials and methods. We examined with ELISA kits concentrations of MIC-1 in serum of 87 girls age: 11-17,9. 30 girls with restricting type AN, 30 healthy girls and 27 girls with obesity were enrolled in the study. Anthropometric measurements (weight, body mass, BMI, BMI-SDS, Cole index) and biochemical parameters (total and HDL, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, Creactive protein, glucose, insulin, TSH, fT4 and cortisol) where measured in whole group. Results. MIC-1 serum concentration in AN patient were significantly higher than in OB and ZD girls. In OB group MIC-1 serum concentration was also significantly higher than in ZD group and positively correlated with anthropometric measurements. In whole group serum concentration of both proteins negatively correlated with anthropometric measurements. In whole examinated group serum concentration of MIC- 1 negatively correlated with glucose, insulin, HOMAIR, TSH, fT4, and positively correlated with total and LDL cholesterol and cortisol. Conclusions. Serum concentration of MIC-1 are significantly higher in the group of AN. Higher concentration of MIC-1 in AN may play role in beginning of the illness by inhibiting food intake. Obese girls have higher serum concentration of MIC-1 than healthy girls. Anorexygenic effect of MIC-1 may by decrease in obese group by insulin resistance.
