- Title
The common touch.
- Authors
Watson, Rhoda
- Abstract
This article reports that touch is an important means of communication. A gentle squeeze of the arm, a good hug, an arm across someone's shoulders, a light tap on the hand. All of these speak volumes without a word being said. Sometimes it's said of the great and the good that they "had the common touch'." It's a compliment and said after their demise. Such people possessed the gift of connecting with all levels of humanity and were not in the habit of taking themselves too seriously. Living for a long time in the same house means one can find our way about by feeling and reaching for familiar objects, even in the dark. There's no need for a light. One can tell by sense of touch exactly where one is.
