- Abstract
The study of executive compensation and corporate sustainability enables to understand the conflicts arising from the Agency Theory as well as the Stakeholder Theory and the search for long-run value. In this sense, this research aimed to analyze the relationship between corporate sustainability and executive compensation in companies listed in Brazil, Bolsa and Balcão (B3), during the years 2015 to 2018. This work is a quantitative research and uses descriptive statistics with indication of maximum and minimum, means and standard deviations; means test and multiple correspondence analysis (MCA). To quatify executive compensation, it is used the total compensation, collected on each company's Reference Form (FR) on the B3 website, and corporate sustainability which is measured based on whether a compnay participates of the Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI) or not. With the resul ts, it is stated that the average executive compensation in sustainable companies is higher than the average compensation of non-sustainable companies. The results showed that sustainable companies has a better compensation of their executives, which was ratified through the average test. The MCA showed a positive association between executive compensation, corporate sustainability and corporate governance.
