- Title
OBSERVATIONS ON PHYLLODY AND 'RED LEAF' IN WHITE CLOVER.
- Authors
Davies, W. Ellis
- Abstract
This study investigated the incidence of clover phyllody on spaced plants of white clover varieties at the Welsh Plant Breeding Station in Aberystwyth, Wales. Large-leaved varieties showed a higher incidence than small-leaved varieties, and infected plants showed reduced growth. A virus provisionally named "red leaf" has also been common among the spaced plants of white clover, and this has severely reduced plant vigor. The assessment of the degree of loss in yield under sward conditions is difficult but the amount of infection is apparently less than in spaced plants.
