- Authors
Kaltreider, Nancy B.; Lenkoski, L. Douglas
- Abstract
The article discusses the therapeutic potential of analytically oriented group psychotherapy of adolescent girls in maternity homes. It is informed that a social worker skilled in group techniques can offer considerable service. Moreover, it is stated that oriented group psychotherapy within a maternity home helps a girl to deal with the emotional crisis of an unwed pregnancy, the natural adolescent affinity for groups, and others. It is reported such a group experience within a maternity home setting helps the unwed mother to understand her pregnancy as a symptomatic act, which improves her overall functioning.
