- Abstract
Moringa Oleifera is a plant, which helps to solve food security issues and to prevent multiple pathologies associated with protein, carbohydrates, minerals, and vitamin deficiencies. The necessity for research arises on the subject of conditions required, in Bolivar, to maintain the same properties shown by this plant at home. This study develops with three harvest methods: control, organic, and chemical. A physiochemical soil analysis was performed to compare with original soil characteristics. Comparative bromatological tests were carried out among plants harvested by using all three factors under study and data for the plant on Indian and African soil. Comparison was made by means of a t statistical test. It may be concluded that soil physiochemical characteristics are close enough to original soil. Also, bromatological analysis shows similar values for protein, carbohydrates, calcium, potassium, and vitamin A. Moreover, significantly greater values for fi-ber, sodium, iron, magnesium, vitamin B1 and B2 are observed. These results proof that Moringa oleifera adapts maintaining and even exceeding nutritional properties in the Caribbean region with respect to origin soil.
