Abstract
The article examines the metaphysical reflections on transformation in the poem "The Owl King," by James Dickey. Topics covered include comparison of Dckey's work with the corresponding elements in the works of American author Ralph Waldo Emerson and Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung and the view that Dickey encoded into his work a personal mythology of transformation.
