- Abstract
The article discusses the book "Boots of Leather, Slippers of Gold: The History of a Lesbian Community" by Elizabeth Lapovsky Kennedy and Madeline D. Davis, with a particular focus on its contributions to the fields of feminist theory, queer theory, and lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) studies. According to the author, the book reclaimed butch and femme lesbian identities as part of feminist discourse and demonstrated the ways in which butch and femme lesbians both reflected and altered gender meanings.
