- Abstract
Chapter three of the book "Irony and Idyll: Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and Mansfield Park on Screen" by Marie N. Sorbo is presented. It explores the impression of farce and romance setting in the face of threat in film adaptation of the Austen's novel "Pride and Prejudice," directed by Robert Leonard. It also cites the apparent feminism contradicted by the heroine, the prejudices and undeception as well as the marriage and wartime family values in the novel.
