- Title
Poetry, Piety, and Paideia in KierkegaardÌs Practice in Christianity.
- Authors
Rasmussen, Joel D. S.
- Abstract
This essay argues that KierkegaardÌs Practice in Christianity exemplifies a poetics that effectively (if not expressly) retrieves the primary pedagogical model of both classical antiquity and early Christianity - namely, "paideia" - and that with this model Kierkegaard seeks to foster a form of mimetic piety - namely, imitatio Christi - which he opposes to the "observational" and secularizing tendencies of modern rationality.
