- Title
Ongoing Formation in Moral Theology: Saint Alphonsus Liguori and the Priests of Today.
- Authors
Fernandes, Earl K.
- Abstract
The article presents the author's perspectives on the ongoing spiritual formation of the seminarians based on the theological teachings of Saint Alphonsus Maria de Ligouri, patron of confessors and moralists. In Vatican II, priest James Rafferty emphasized that the disposition of priest's fidelity is based from the commitment of seminarians during their spiritual formation. These include self-motivation and lifelong formation, especially in celebrating sacraments of penance, reconciliation and giving pastoral guidance to the parishioners in need. Several situational examples wherein Saint Ligouri devoutly practised are shown within historical contexts.
