- Abstract
In this article the editors discuss maritime history and examine the contribution the Society for Nautical Research (SNR) has contributed to the field since its inception in 1910. They commend the SNR for its publication of the maritime history journal "Mariner's Mirror," preview the King's Maritime History conferences and New Researchers in Maritime History seminars of 2011, and comment on historical events from 1910 including the establishment of the Royal Canadian Navy, the death of explorer Robert Falcon Scott, and the sinking of the five-mast ship Preussen in the English Channel.
