- Abstract
Editor, Ragnar Sandberg (1902-1972) was a Swedish contemporary painter who belonged to the group of the "Gothenburg colourists". In Gothenburg Museum, other paintings by Sandberg depict various characters with facial redness such as an autoportrait of the artist ( I Självporträtt i , 1937), card players ( I Kortspelare i , 1938) or cyclists ( I Cyclister i , 1939). However, their facial features are different from the farmer here: on all the characters, facial redness affects only the convexity of the cheeks and spares the naso-genial grooves and nose.
