- Title
Reconstructing Life after the Holocaust: The Lastenausgleichsgesetz and the Jewish Struggle for Compensation1.
- Authors
Nachum, Iris
- Abstract
The article explores the relationship between compensation claims by Jewish Holocaust survivors and the German Equalization of Burdens Law (LAG), which was intended to regulate compensation to German expellees. The author examines why the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany (JCC), which represented Holocaust survivors' interests, decided to use the LAG for some claimants rather than negotiating better terms.
