- Abstract
India, since inception, had certain fault lines. However, the current BJPled gouernment of Hindutua ideologues has broadened those fault lines in India. Consequently, the societal divide coupled with violence is now a prominent facet of India. However, instead of looking inward, Indian statecraft finds it more suitable to leverage ultra-nationalist sentiments by creating situations at external fronts, particularly with Pakistan. In doing so, they Carry disinformation campaigns, manage narratives and discredit the state of Pakistan. Whereas, while articulating Indian policy, Pakistan has remained committed to the Kashmir cause only. However, Pakistan's political and diplomatic efforts for the Kashmir cause are being answered through sub-conventional and cognitiue actions in Balochistan (Doual's Offensive Defence). It is becoming obvious that Pakistan's Kashmir only approach and its nuclear capabilities are not deterring India to cease infringements in Balochistan. Hence, Pakistan needs to develop deterrence which works in the sub -nuclear and sub -conventional realms. Therefore, Pakistan may need to develop a policy option to leverage other fault lines in India. Insurgencies in the Indian North Eastern Region (NER) is one of the fault lines. India has multiple issues in NER that include activities of insurgent groups, human rights violations, threat to distinct ethnicities and culture and their habitat, and anti-Muslim hatred. Pakistan can highlight human rights violations in NER to present the true face of India to the international community. Similarly, Pakistan can utilise its think tanks, academia and media to conduct information and cognition influence operations to develop options on the lines of a quid pro quo response to counter Indian infringements of the sovereignty of Pakistan.
