- Abstract
On seven occasions, an American badger (Taxidea taxus) was observed moving within ca. 0.3m deep tire-ruts on a two-track road, conducting covert reconnaissance of black-tailed prairie dogs (Cynomys ludovicianus). In one instance, the American badger moved from the tire-ruts, hid in vegetation ca. 0.5 m tall, and then successfully ambushed a black-tailed prairie dog.
