- Authors
Gajula, Goutam
- Abstract
The article provides information concerning the sacred grove lore and laws, as well as the beliefs of ecologists, environmentalist-historians, and others, in India. Over 30 years, the author infers that the sacred grove has made its way to the foreground of discussions, arguments, and statements of religion, conservation, and popular practices. Moreover, it has been emerged as a potent symbol for biodiversity management, tradition-based environmentalism, and decentralized conservation. The groves have originated in pre-history as evident in their floristic composition.
