The article presents a study which examines the solved homicide cases recorded by the National Homicide Monitoring Program during a six-year period in Australia. It finds that almost half of the 1,565 cases were categorised as alcohol related and that in this category, more than half involved both the victim and the perpetrator consuming alcohol before the incident. It also indicates that alcohol is implicated in homicides involving intimate partners.
