- Abstract
The author discusses the regulation Stream Protection Rule introduced by the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) under the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama, targeted at mining companies. He says that the regulation is aimed at protecting the environment and save costs from cleaning up mine site, according to the Obama administration. He mentions the response by the U.S. National Mining Association (MSA) to the rule and the failure of the DOI's Office of Surface Mining (OSM).
