- Abstract
In order to meet the energy need, petroleum-derived fuels are already being used throughout the world as in our country. With increasing industrialization and population density and consequently the amount of vehicles, the tendency towards oil increases, which leads to depletion of resources. Considering the decrease in oil reserves and the negative effects of oil on the environment, the tendency towards alternative fuels increases. In this experiment, thermodynamic analyzes were performed for a water-cooled, single-cylinder direct injection diesel engine. Energy analyzes were carried out when the engine was operated with four different fuels at different speeds between 1200 rpm and 2400 rpm by increasing 200 rpm. First, standard diesel (STD) was used as direct fuel injection. Then 20% ethanol (E20, 25% ethanol (E25 and 30% ethanol (E30) is sprayed from the intake manifold by means of electronical controlled ethanol injection system. The effect of diesel engine with these fuels on the energy analysis parameters was investigated. As a result of this study; overall improvements in emissions and reductions in engine performance were observed. While the most efficient speed for standard diesel, E25 and E30 fuels is 1400 rpm, it is determined as 1600 rpm for E20 fuel. It is seen that E30 fuel can be used as an alternative to standard diesel for 2000 rpm and higher cycles
