- Title
Medical microbiology: A toxin contest.
- Authors
Ballard, Jimmy D.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the findings of studies concerning the bacterium Clostridium difficile's pathogenicity. It explores the role of toxins A and B in the virulence of the pathogen, referencing from the studies of S. A. Kuehne and his colleagues. It further examines the data results of Kuehne which seem to contradict the proposals of previous studies. Also, it highlights the common findings of the two studies which state that toxin B is a crucial virulence factor of the C. difficile.
