A cut too far.
- Abstract
The author reflects on the outrage by British researchers at Great Britain's Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), which is a national research-funding body, to stop unsuccessful grant applicants from further grant proposals. The author notes that EPSRC's ruling to eliminate unsuccessful researchers is a burden on the system and there are options available, such as saving time by creating a triage committee to shift through applications before the peer review process.
