- Title
Ocean fertilization: dead in the water?
- Authors
Schiermeier, Quirin
- Abstract
The article discusses the dispute regarding the theory that adding iron to oceans aids in the removal of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) both cheaply and efficiently. Topics include a study published within the issue regarding iron-induced carbon sequestration of carbon, the British experiment called CROZEX in 2004 and 2005 investigating the ecological impact of iron fertilization on algal growth and carbon export, and Germany's ocean-fertilization experiment called LOHAFEX.
