- Title
Zoology: Bird's-nose view.
- Abstract
The article discusses the study on the ability of birds to perceive their surroundings through their nose, which was conducted by Silke Steiger and her colleagues of Max Planck Institute for Ornithology in Starnberg, Germany. It has been reported that among the nine species of birds from seven orders used in the study, red jungle fowl and kakapo showed that their olfactory-receptor genes wee functional. Moreover, the total number of working olfactory-receptor genes in an animal indicates how many scents it can indicate.
