- Authors
GRADISEK, AMANDA R.
- Abstract
The article presents literary criticism of the book "Absalom, Absalom!" by William Faulkner. Particular focus is given to the roles of modernism, domestic labor, and femininity in the novel. According to the author, Faulkner challenges the Southern Belle ideal of femininity and promotes an engaged rather than ambiguous relationship with household work. Topics discussed include sewing, subjectivity, and the effects of the U.S. Civil War on gender relations.
