The article discusses need to consider the lessons from the U.S. government efforts against AIDS in 2004, in order to deal with COVID-19 pandemic. Topics discussed include need for the U.S. to help combat COVID-19 in low- and middle-income countries; efforts of drug industry to worked with government to develop their AIDS medicines into cheaper combination pills in 2004; and role of U.S. government in 2004 to support the production and distribution of counterfeit pills.
