- Abstract
Partial prostheses, fixed or mobilizable, are the prosthetic restorations with the widest use in the case of edentations of different classes, whose technical realization has undergone major changes in recent years, determined by the special development of laboratory technology. The classic methods of performing prosthetic restorations require from the clinician in-depth knowledge of biomechanics, and from the technician, mastery of a thorough technique of modeling and casting the metal, respectively of making the physiognomic component. At present, due to the qualitative leap in dentistry, it is mandatory for the dentist, as well as the dental technician, to know in detail the technical possibilities of modern equipment as well as how to handle and operate these equipments. Through a perfect harmonization between the technical performances and the medical reasoning, high quality prosthetic works can be obtained. In order to achieve the desired results, it is necessary to use modern materials, whose mechanical resistance, doubled by properties similar to the dental tissues they have to replace, represent key elements of therapeutic success, materialized by restoring the dento-maxillary structures in all aspects: morphology, functionality, aesthetics.
