- Authors
Pierard, Richard V.; McDaniel, Charles
- Abstract
The author comments on the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) and the choice of a history textbook that manipulated the history of the separation of church and state in the U.S. The impact of the religious group the Christian Right and its attempts to have its members elected to school boards in Texas is considered. The Texas SBOE asked author David Barton and former politician Peter Marshall to help it choose history textbooks for the statewide curriculum, which was criticized.
