- Title
Flat-Fixed Dosing Versus Body Surface Area-Based Dosing of Anticancer Drugs: There Is a Difference.
- Authors
Hempel, Georg; Boos, Joachim
- Abstract
The article discusses the flat-fixed dosing and body surface area(BSA)-based dosing of anticancer medications. According to pharmacists, flat-fixed dosing regimen could be beneficial but does not provide cost reduction for hospitals. It notes that BSA-based dose adjustment will remain as the standard mode of dosing until another validated parameters for dose adjustment are created. It cites the importance of population pharmacokinetic studies to the development of parameters which would estimate the clearance of cytostatic drugs.
