- Abstract
Thermo-sensitive polymer was synthetised through ternary copolymerisation using oxidation-reduction micellar polymerisation, which contains n-butyl styrene (nBS) made in laboratory as the hydrophobic monomer, N,N-diethyl acrylamide (DEAM) as the monomer with temperature-sensitive characteristic and acrylamide (AM) as the hydrophilic monomer. The structures of the products were characterised by IR, ¹H NMR, 13C NMR, and the synthetic copolymer is the target product. DSC and TG thermal analysis showed that glass transition temperature of the copolymer was 210°C and the initial decomposition temperature was 330°C. Synthetic temperature-sensitive copolymers have good thermal stability. Viscosity change of the polymer solution and the two kinds of industrial polymer at different conditions of temperature and salt content was studied, indicating the temperature-sensitive polymer has a temperature and salt thickening feature.
