- Abstract
This is a descriptive-exploratory study with a quantitative approach aimed at tracing the profile of hospital admissions by the Unified Health System of adolescent residents in Paraná from 2001 to 2012. The source of hospitalization data was the Information System Hospitalar. Data were analyzed through simple descriptive statistics. The results indicated that the main causes of hospitalization were respiratory diseases (18.4%), genitourinary (10.4%), digestive (9.7%) and infectious and parasitic diseases (8.7%). When analyzed according to sex the main causes for the female population are respiratory diseases and for the male are the lesions, poisonings and other external causes. In relation to age it was verified that the greater the age, the higher the hospitalization rate. It is concluded that actions are needed to prevent preventable diseases and coping with vulnerability among adolescents through intersectoral work.
