- Abstract
This study examines how a narrative transform from oral to text, repetition to memory and ritual to aesthetics. The study consists of three sections. In the first section; the questions about "what is the protected one?" and "what is the changed one?" in narration while a narration transforms to text will be discussed. In the second section, it is investigated that how "repetition" transformed to "remembering" in terms of memory, or in other words, how "symbolic" connotative recall transferred to "imaginary" thinkable remembering as the basic notion of oral culture. In the last section, the transition between symbolic and imaginary shown as they are actually the foundation of an evolution from aesthetic narrative to ritualistic words. Consequently, on contrary to the modern thoughts and thinkers which/who claim that the tension caused by the differentiation of ages is a "break", the main purpose of this study is to show that it is not a "break" but "continuation". The age difference of narration which occurs as a result of the difference between the word and writing/literacy; which is opposed to modernize the ideas and thinkers which handle this difference as a "break" may be seen as a "continuing".
