- Abstract
The article presents information on experiments done to determine concentration of phosphoric acid and citric acid in soft drink products. Dionex Corporation developed a method that rapidly analyses the phosphoric and citric acid concentrations in cola drinks. These acids are determined in approximately 5 minutes using an isocratic potassium hydroxide eluent delivered by an eluent generator in combination with suppressed conductivity detection. The article gives a description of equipments and methods used in the experiment. The unique selectivity and moderate capacity of the Fast Anion III provides excellent separation of phosphate and citrate in less than 5 minutes. It was concluded that the method used for the analysis of phosphoric acid and citric acid in cola drinks using the new IonPac Fast Anion III Column and a Dionex reagent -free IC system is reliable.
