- Abstract
The objective of this study was to characterize the epidemiological profile of patients with heart disease and transplant patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a referral hospital in the care of critical cardiopulmonary patients. This is documentary, exploratory, crosssectional, descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The scenario was the postoperative Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Dr. Carlos Alberto Studart Gomes Hospital. The study object was 51 of 60 patients restricted to the cited ICU. It occurred in the period from September to December 2015. The results showed that the majority of patients were in the age range of 61 to 80 years (54.9%), were male (60.8%), coming from Fortaleza (72.5%) and were not attended in the Dentistry before hospitalization (74.5%). The most prevalent oral complaint was tongue sores (86.7%), followed by tartar (45.1%), residual root (35.3%) and caries (25.5%). In view of the findings, it did not identify statistically significant P according to the statistical analysis.
