- Abstract
The article describes the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in organic chemistry to track students' learning progress and adapt learning materials. AI methods enable instructors to automatically evaluate complex thinking processes in open task formats and provide personalized feedback and exercises. Through machine learning, students' arguments can be analyzed to promote mechanistic thinking. An ML-based learning environment automatically evaluates arguments for the plausibility of reaction products and offers personalized feedback and exercises. This allows instructors to address different learning needs and optimize their teaching methods.
