- Abstract
The article reports on the comparison of near-real-time precipitation projections from satellite observations and numerical models. It is noted that accurate measurements of precipitation on a wide range of space and time scales are essential not only to weather forecasters and climate scientists, but also to hydrologists, industrialists, and agriculturalists. Measurement of precipitation provides important information about the global water cycle and the distribution of the Earth's latent heating.
