- Title
Factors Affecting Participation in 401 (k) Plans.
- Abstract
The article presents a summary of the article "Factors Affecting Participation in 401 (k) Plans," by Sylvester J. Schieber. It discusses a number of factors affect the participation rates of 401(k) plans. There are various tradeoffs involved when using higher match rates versus more aggressive communications to enhance participation levels. Improving communications programs has almost the same effect on the probability of participation as increasing the employer match from 25% to 100%, according to researchers.
