- Abstract
Together, the papers in this edition of SSOL show the value of an empirical approach to literature in addressing question that arise within literary scholarship. The papers in this edition of SSOL utilize a central tenet of why an empirical approach to literature was initially proposed - the testing of hypothetical positions developed in the realm of literary scholarship. The final paper, by Postarnak, Castro and Silva, offers interesting data on how listeners comprehend recited poetry with different manipulations of pauses and pitch breaks.
