- Abstract
Businesses desiring to maintain their assets and preserve their competitive edge within the global market are under the responsibility of controlling and monitoring the withdrawal behaviors exhibited by their employees regarding their work within the scope of enhancing the service quality and efficiency. Among these behaviors, absenteeism stimulated by some individual, organization and environmental factor with organization psychology and causing labor force and time loss confronts as a concept kept up-to-date. Absenteeism is a human resource management problem that might have a considerable economic cost to employers, lead to loss of productivity and wages for employees. In this respect it is necessary to scrutinize underlying causes of absenteeism behaviors with care and earnestly and immediately after to discuss and develop solution suggestions. Irrespective of having a justification, one of the effective solution methods for reducing employees' frequencies and rates of absenteeism is flexible working. Flexible working method which we can describe as the most typical sample of freedom of time management balances work and individual lives, reduces work stress, by increasing organization commitment and job satisfaction thus can be effective on absenteeism. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of employees' attitudes towards flexible working arrangements on absenteeism perceptions. In this scope, 381 employees working in public in Ankara applied a questionnaire. In the analysis of data it is benefited from the SPSS program for Windows 21.0. The reliability of the scales used in the questionnaires were tested and found to be highly reliable. Simple linear regression analysis is conducted to measure interaction level between two variables. According to the result of analysis, it was found that attitudes towards flexible working arrengements were meaningful on absenteeism perceptions. However, it was observed that the parameters of the study had meaningful differences according to a significant number of demographic factors.
