- Abstract
Objective: To describe the notified cases of violence in the state of Espírito Santo between 2011 and 2018. Methods: Epidemiological descriptive study, developed with data from notifications of violence contained in the Information System for Notifiable Diseases, which were analyzed through the Stata 14.1 program and evidenced through raw and relative frequencies and 95% confidence intervals. The project was approved by the Ethics Committee. Results: 36.392 cases of violence were reported. Most of the victims were women, between 20 and 59 years old, black/brown, without disabilities/disorders and living in urban/peri-urban areas. The aggressor is usually a male, aged 25 years or older, with no suspected alcohol use. Most of the cases occurred at home, were repeated and were referred to other services. Physical violence was the most reported, followed by self-inflicted violence. Conclusion: The results contribute to the identification of reported cases of violence, which can collaborate to the design of strategies for preventing and coping with this problem, as well as consolidating protection networks for victims.
