- Abstract
The authors comment on the geographic and ethnographic variations at hemoglobin A1C and discuss some known studies of diabetes with differences in geographical data. A study showed a very low A1C sensitivity in detecting type 2 diabetes mellitus or prediabetes in Middle-Eastern Iraq, Turkey, and Swedish ancestors. Other studies show that the sensitivity and specificity of A1C is very variable in different populations. Geographical reports with cut-off point variations are outlined.
