- Abstract
The article presents the result of an experiment which measured the ultraviolet (UV) spectra, cytotoxicity and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) of the wood Quassia amara to synthesize the fluorescent alkaloid amarastelline from its compound in vitro and in HeLa cervical cancer cell line. The variables used include the use of octadecyksilyl (ODS), the cytology of HeLa cells and flow cytometry of stained amarastelline. A discussion on the therapeutic use of tropicalmedical plants is offered.
