- Abstract
The article explores the pollination of two species of Angelica plants by hornets. While the family Apiaceae typically attracts a variety of insects for pollination, the author observed that hornets were the primary visitors to the Angelica plants, carrying a large amount of pollen. Other insects, such as bees, flies, butterflies, and ants, were also observed but carried less pollen. The study conducted a bagging experiment on the Angelica plants, which revealed that hornets played a significant role in seed production, although other insects also contributed. The findings suggest that hornets may serve as functional pollen vectors for these Angelica species, particularly those with dark-red and green floral displays.
