- Title
THE GRAND LAKE LODGE SAWMILL, ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, GRAND COUNTY, COLORADO.
- Abstract
The article presents an archaeological study of the Grand Lake Lodge Sawmill in Grand Lake Colorado. The sawmill was built around 1918 to provide wood for the Grand Lake Lodge, and abandoned sometime before 1940. The remains of the mill are described, and said to be largely intact, although the sawblade and power source were no longer present. A discussion of more general issues related to historical and archaeological investigations of sawmills and the lumber industry throughout Colorado, and in similar regions, is also presented.
