- Abstract
The article discusses the legal aspects of physician-assisted death, dementia patients, and euthanasia in relation to the use of an advanced directive to carry out the wishes of individuals who suffer from memory loss in America. Palliative care and right to die laws in the U.S. are addressed, along with the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in the case Cruzan v. Director, Missouri Department of Health which deals with end-of-life decisions and a right to terminate life-sustaining medical treatments.
