- Abstract
The article focuses on the shaping of Mexican literature in the 1920s, after the Mexican Revolution. It considers the use of gendered language to construct nationalist notions of culture and literature, comments on the relationship between the new Mexican state and intellectuals and discusses the consciousness of a lack of cultural standards on which to build a critical literature and an intellectual identity.
