- Abstract
The conceptual devices on which prevention is based are not neutral, as they delimit the problem, distribute agencies and organize subjectivities. The aim of this research was to identify the discursive effects that some conceptual devices -- commonly used in public documents of child abuse prevention in Chile -- have in the problematization of child abuse. The devices analyzed were definitions of child abuse, an explanatory framework and a sensitization strategy about child maltreatment. Through discourse analysis, what the discourses said about the features of abuse and power was identified. The results showed cartography of three guidelines: individualized violence, familiarization of violence and moralization of power. From these guidelines, the effects on the problematization of violence were elaborated: Exclusion of the institutional, exclusion of power imbalances and exclusion of resistance of children. I discuss this work as a cartography that leads towards a depoliticization of child violence.
